While the US agriculture industry is expected to undergo a smallnrevival in 2013, largely driven by a rebound in grain production,nthe cattle sector will remain a sore spot over the next 12 months atnleast, as evidenced by global agribusiness giant Cargill's decisionnto shut down a Texas meatpacking plant. The state of Texas hasnbeen a symbol of the decline in the cattle sector in recent decades,nand the recent high costs of feed, combined with poor pasture conditions,nhas resulted in the lowest beef cattle inventories in Texasnin 60 years. The closure will provide a short-term boost for othernprocessors but confirms our view for a weak production outlook.
