摘要

Differential operators with constant coefficients commute with translations, and the Fourier transform conjugates those differential operators to the multiplication operator by polynomials. These facts are at the basis of the connection between harmonic analysis and linear and nonlinear partial differential equations. This is a vast area of mathematics and a comprehensive description is virtually impossible. Instead it may be more appropriate to list and discuss elements and examples.
