Over the past decades, the analysis of transport barriers in fluid flows has received considerable scientific interest. Transport barriers are moving structures within fluids that have a dominant influence on global mixing. The book under review develops a rigorous mathematical theory of such flow barriers from the perspective of ordinary differential equations and dynamical systems. Before I discuss the contents of the book I will provide some background on the subject.
