Though PBB-TE is poised to be the next significant evolution of Ethernet technology, there is an important limiting factor. PBB-TE lacks the sophistication of a management system required to provision paths, tunnels, forwarding entries, and services. PBB-TE needs a comprehensive element and network management system, which is essential for large-scale, robust Ethernet service delivery.
