摘要

The traditional business model for revenue growth in telecommunications companies is being challenged, forcing service providers to seek revenue from higher in the value chain. This is placing operators in direct competition with over-the-top service providers, which are threatening to make the network irrelevant by delivering and enabling services independent of the network. Rather than compete directly with these content service providers for end-customer value (on-net model) or accept relegation to utility services (cost-per-bit model), we believe there is a third way that offers significant value growth by becoming the enabling platform provider. Network-based intelligent services such as identity and policy control and integrated security can enhance the over-the-top experience, making the network a core part of the end-customer experience.
