WiMAX certification has become reality almost a year ago, when the first WiMAX Forum Certified products were announced in January 2006. This was a key benchmark for the entire WiMAX community. After much hype and anticipation, the market has been able to assess WiMAX performance in real networks instead of making educated guesses from abstract specifications. Since then, twenty eight products have been certified as of October 2006, and certification for Mobile WiMAX is planned to start at the beginning of 2007.
