In the telecom market, telecom operators and service providers are pursuing increasing average revenue per user (ARPU) growth through value-added services. Since 2001, there has been continual growth in what are collectively known as "innovative services" (i.e., broadband access and content and voice value-added services, supported by innovative handsets). In 2001, these innovative services made up only 8 percent of operators' total offering, but this grew to an estimated 31 percent in 2006—a figure that is predicted to grow still further to 35 percent in 2007. The traditional revenue mix for telecom operators is changing rapidly (see Figure 1).
