SAFETY SYSTEMS GIVE VISION JET PILOTS MORE OPTIONS Cirrus has made the whole-airplane parachute system a signature standard item on its airplanes-one that has undoubtedly sold hundreds of its piston-powered models. With more than 70 successful deployments, the chute has saved scores of lives. And while Cirrus officials see the parachute as an important part of the jet. they believe its importance is somewhat diminished in the new model-mostly because of evolving safety technology, some of it unique to jets.
