Composite insulators are widely used in high-voltage line transmission and electrical equipment due to their excellent water resistance. They are exposed to the natural environment for a long time, and they suffer from weathering corrosion of various factors and external uncertain shocks, which together lead to failure. According to the failure mechanism of composite insulators, a reliability model of the dependent competitive failure process is established. The failure thresholds of composite insulators are uncertain, and the hydrophobic performance degradation and self-healing performance are considered. According to uncertainty theory, the belief reliability and average failure time of composite insulators under three shock model patterns are calculated. The algorithm of the reliability function calculation is given. Taking the composite insulator made of silicone rubber as an example verified the effectiveness of the model.
