Recently it has been shown both theoretically and experimentally that, for certain operating conditions of a caesium fountain primary frequency standard, the cold-collision frequency shift, which can be a limit to the accuracy of the standard, strongly varies with the clock state composition and can be cancelled. This offers the intriguing prospect of operating a fountain standard at the zero-shift point, where no correction for collisions needs to be applied. We estimate expected improvements in the standard's accuracy and a potential shortening of the averaging time. Lastly, we derive relevant requirements for the key experimental parameters.
