On the 3rd of June, 2013, Sappi Alfeld commissioned Butting in Schwedt to produce and install the dry broke tower for the rebuild of its paper machine 2 (PM 2). Butting was also responsible in this project for the production of the entire process pipework and the steam and condensate pipelines. The dry broke tower made by Butting from stainless steel has a capacity of 475 m~3 and - including the stainless steel reinforcements - has a total weight of 16.5 tonnes. All in all, Butting supplied over three kilometres of pipeline for this project, 2.2 kilometres of which are made from stainless steel with diameters of between DN 15 and DN 500. The remaining pipes are made from stainless steel in sizes of between DN 15 and DN 125, as well as standard steel pipes.
