Almost any carbonaceous material with low organic volatile content, high in elementary carbon, and of sufficient strength can be converted into activated carbon. Commercial activated carbons are prepared from a variety of carbonaceous materials and there are many studies in the literature relating to the preparation and characterization of activated carbons from agricultural waste [1].
