摘要

Child Chemo House is a completely new prototype serving children suffering from cancer. The hospital is organized like a village, with a series of stay houses for each patient's family. Traditionally, children under treatment were forced into quarantine for six months because the anti-cancer drug suppresses their immune system. However, in this hospital, children have opportunities to meet their family everyday through a door that directly connects the hospital to the stay house. This planning strategy has shortened the duration of complete isolation to as much as one third of the typical six month stay. The hospital does not require patient rooms because children live in the stay houses with their families.The homes include a kitchen for the mother to prepare her child's favorite dish and dining area for the family to enjoy meals together. Child Chemo House is an NPO that was established after eight years of fund raising. Child Chemo House is a new prototype that incorporates the power of family and community to redefine the future of hospitals.
