摘要

In the wake of the second fire in four years at the Glasgow School of Art on 16 June 2018, a further round of examination and assessment of the building, and of Mackintosh's work both there and in general, will doubtless take place. It is practical necessity to assess whether the building can be rebuilt from the ruins, what type of reproduction is desired and/or possible, and what sort of materials are available in the wreckage, in archives, and in store to assemble the expertise, know-how, and understanding that would allow for any rebuilding. Should a decision be made not to rebuild, then an archiving and assessment of the original through remaining materials will likely be staged to preserve its memory and history for posterity.
