摘要

Philip thalis started work on a 'short survey of open architectural competitions in Sydney' a year ago. In recent months it became something of an obsession, particularly as we approached the print deadline for this issue of AB, which focuses on competitions. Philip enlisted the aid of Chapter colleagues to help complete the list and their feedback has been encouraging, though the list is not exhaustive and new information is still emerging as we go to print. For this reason it will be available on the Chapter website for others to help fill in the blanks. (Next stop Australian architecture museum?). In this issue we publish part two of the survey, competitions in the post-Sydney Opera House years and we'll publish part one (pre-Opera House to 1858) in the next issue, along with Choi Ropiha's Times Square ticket booth: the competition-winning design that launched their Sydney practice.
