摘要

On four levels the Kunsthalle Bremen offers visitors an extensive collection of works from the Renaissance to the present day. The building was extensively restored and extended in 2011. With the installation "Nachwirkung" by Thomas Hirschhorn, which has been on show since the start of September, parts of the building are currently presented as an artificial landscape of ruins. The three halls of the Grosse Galerie look as if they have been hit by an artillery shell that has left a trail of destruction in its wake: carefully draped bundles of plastic tape, insulation panels and foam mats hang in shreds from the ceiling, buckled fragments of steel beams (made of painted cardboard) stick out from the wall, "building rubble" in the form of cardboard blocks lies scattered around.
