The increasingly restrictive legislative environment in South Korea nwill continue to hamper the expansionary efforts of domestic retailers nand hold back retail sales growth. The country's parliament passed na bill in November 2010 that large-scale supermarkets could not nopen within 500m, which was subsequently widened to 1km in July n2011, of traditional markets and family-run stores without seeking napproval from local authorities and small-business associations.
