A study conducted by Euroconsult, a Paris-based market research and consulting company, shows that in 1999 more satellite deals were signed than in 1998. However, signs of slowdown in the satellite manufacturing industry are highlighted too. Asia-Pacific Satellite reports. According to a study conducted by Euroconsult, during 1999, commercial communications or television satellite operators placed firm orders for the construction of 25 geostationary satellites, for an estimated total of US$3 billion -without launches, insurance and ground stations. In addition, memoranda of agreement for seven more geostationary satellites were signed, though these remain to be confirmed as they are subject to contract negotiations and financial arrangements.
