China Mobile has extended the public trials of its 4G Time Division Long Term Evolution (TD-LTE) networks, inviting subscribers in Shanghai, Tianjing, Fuzhou, Xiamen and Chengdu to use the platform and provide feedback. China Mobile specified that testers must have been China Mobile subscribers for at least a year, have a monthly subscription of over RMB50 (US$8.1) and have used a total of more than 50MB of mobile data over the course of the previous three months. The cellco will supply an interface card and a TD-LTE compatible device for each user. China Mobile is one of the world's chief proponents of the homegrown TD-LTE standard, and has so far deployed the technology in 15 cities, in preparation for allocation of 4G licenses, expected later this year.
