US-based wireless transport solutions provider Aviat Networks has been selected by Globe Telecom of the Philippines to supply its WTM 4800 E-band and multi-band radio platform to support the telco's 5G rollout in the country. The WTM 4800 solution is described as 'the industry's only single box, multi-band solution which lowers total cost of ownership (TCO) significantly, compared to alternative multi-band solutions' and will be used to augment Globe's backhaul requirements for 5G and Enterprise 'at the lowest cost per Gbps', said the firm's head of network transport, Constantine ASerafica. Further, the operator will also use the vendor's proprietary 'Aviat Design' tool for multi-band link planning, allowing it to simplify network planning of multi-band links, alongside Aviat's 'NETCONF/ YANG' interfaces to support its automation and software defined networking (SDN) initiatives.
