Malaysia's Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi swapped his defence ministry portfolio with Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein in May 2013, in a cabinet shake-up after the country's general election. In his capacity as the home minister, Dr Ahmad Zahid has introduced new measures to beef up the country's internal security, as well as protecting its borders from the influence of threats of terrorism. In the latest cabinet reshuffle on July 28, 2015, Dr Ahmad Zahid was promoted deputy prime minister. He still retains the home ministry portfolio. He served in the Tourism Ministry and Information Ministry as deputy minister between 2004 and 2008. He later became a Minister in the Prime Minister's Department for a year before becoming Defence Minister, a position he held until 2013 when he was named Home Minister. ADJ notes that he has been engaging himself with issues at hand even before he took the country's Number Two spot. The following are excerpts of his statements made on security matters.
