You sometimes hear people use the expression, "We're due for one." Often they mean something good, as in closing a big deal, or winning a championship after a long drought. But occasionally it's just the opposite, a calamity of some sort. There was a spate of dire news reports in May and June, for example, predicting a major hurricane hitting the Northeast, something that hasn't occurred in several decades. As of mid-September that scenario had not yet occurred, fortunately, though it could still happen this year or any year.
