As ABA chairman this year I spoke with many thoughtful and insightful bankers. I testified on The Hill. I visited with President Bush about Social Security reform. And I learned what an incredible resource we have in the American Bankers Association. No, this isn't an ad for ABA. It's a simple declaration that without our national trade association, we'd be falling behind in far too many ways. Here's what I rate as ABA's key contributions: Representing all of us. ABA's positions on the issues are reached by consensus that is both broad and deep. People from big banks, community banks, agricultural banks, urban banks, savings institutions, mutual savings banks, and more come together to develop positions we can all get behind?
