For the business traveler, frequent-flyer miles usually mean the difference between flying economy or business class. Also, seat upgrades are always very welcome during those long trips between the U.S. and Asia, especially during these times of economic difficulty, when companies are loath to spend money on anything more than coach. Nowadays, though, airline mileage programs are offering more than just a way to get extra legroom. Carriers are linking up with various partners in the travel industry to give their mileage-program members discounts on hotel rooms, rental cars, restaurant meals and plenty of other fun almost-freebies. The discounts are deep, but how far do the bonus miles stretch? The following are the top five programs offering frequent-flying services across North America and the Asian-Pacific region.
