摘要

The purpose of testing is to motivate students to study and measure what they know. Traditional paper-and-pencil testing has accomplished this by using one-shot tests. Often times, these are multiple choice tests, which have the advantage of examining a wide range of topics (William Walstad, Journal of Economic Education, 2001). As computing has improved markedly, the costs of making and grading tests has fallen. New technology makes test creation easy, and this is even more the case for online education. Online platforms like Blackboard allow instructors to create large test pools. Once the test pool is created, very little effort is required to make a new exam. New innovations also provide for algorithmic questions, which generate new numbers and solutions for questions which require computation.
