My research fits in the ongoing literature of theoretical and empirical analysis of deregulated electricity markets. In the previous literature (e.g. Wolak F.A., American Economic Review, 2003; Bollino, C.A. and Polinori P., in M. Uvalic ed., Franco Angeli, Milano, 2012), demand elasticity estimation has been pursued using supply data in order to construct a residual demand curve for oligopolistic suppliers and measure unilateral market power through the Lerner index. There has not yet been a comprehensive theoretical and empirical analysis of the demand side.
