Taking place in the last week of September at Barcelona's Grand Via fairgrounds, the ITMA exhibition covered the entire textile value chain with the latest textile technologies, products and services.rnFor the first time in the history of the event, new technology to produce textile products for use in composites, particularly carbon fibre reinforced composites, was showcased.rnIt appears composites will play a key role in a future of innovative technologies. Indeed, according to Thomas Babacon, CEO of Oerlikon, textiles, including those used in composite technology, are now the fifth largest building material in the world, following stone, steel, timber and glass.
