Illicit sweatshops and the exploltation of outworkers,typically fromimmigrant backgrounds and with limited command of the English language, have long been regarded as the Australian TCF sector's "dirty little secret".According to the Textile Clothing and Footwear Union of Australia {TCFUA}, which performs regular TCF award compliance checks across the TCF supply chain, outworker exploitation is still endemic to the TCF sector. It claims the last four years alone have seen the TCFUA make contact with 5870 outworkers.
