Two staff members from the RMIT School of Fashion & Textiles were successful in receiving International Specialist Skills Institute fellowships funded by Skills Victoria. Trudie Orchard, manager of the textile testing unit at RMIT, will use the scholarship to travel to Italy in 2010 to investigate laboratory analysis of sustainable textiles and review european textile apparel quality assurance systems. Textile design teacher Rachel Halton was the second RMIT staff member to be awarded a fellowship. She will also travel to Italy in 2010 to undertake a research project in the field of brocade for textile design as part of her fellowship.
