Fortunately, that's where the Australian Wool Testing Authority (AWTA) steps in.rnEstablished by the Commonwealth Government in 1957, in response to requests from the Australian wool industry, the AWTA is today an independent and diverse entity involved in a variety of agricultural and other pursuits. It is synonymous with the testing of wool, textiles, plastics and building materials and offers a flammability testing unit to rival all others.rnAWTA Product Testing technologist Sreten Landolac says testing conducted at the AWTA's Melbourne headquarters helps many sectors of industry meet the stringent BCA requirements concerning flammability and other mechanical and physical parameters.rnThe AWTA focuses on a wide range of flammability tests, which take between seven and 15 days to complete, depending on the test required.
