Over 70 technicians, mechanics, engineers and managers representing Australia's major hosiery and knitwear manufacturers attended the official launch of the RMIT/Santoni Training Symposium and Exhibition at the School of Fashion and Textiles Brunswick campus on Monday, 7th April. The Santoni Group, in collaboration with the their agent Ramsay McDonald Pty Ltd and the RMIT Textile & Design Specialist Centre, exhibited the new technology developed by the sock and garment knitting machine manufacturer which includes specialist equipment from Santoni, Sangiacomo, and Matec Technology. The Symposium was launched by The Victorian Minister for Industry & Trade, Theo Theophanous, in the company of Adele Lonati, managing director of the Santoni Group, and invited guests and delegates. "The Santoni Group is delighted that the Australian manufacturing sector has over recent years embraced the new technology released by our companies, and the capital investment made in Australia demonstrates that the industry here is in fact a sunrise industry deserving full technical support from European machinery manufacturers," Adele Lonati said. "With the Santoni Group's new technology we are witnessing a strong recovery in certain sectors of the textile fashion industry in developed countries," she added. "No longer is the cost of labor the governing factor in overall production cost."
