"THERE are no more important skills than those contained within our Priority Industry Capabilities (PICs)," the Minister for Defence Materiel, Jason Clare, said at the ADM Defence Skilling Summit in Brisbane last month.While the PICS were named two years ago, Defence has been reluctant to explain in detail how it will sustain them when market forces and local demand are insufficient to do so. And feedback from industry suggests that some of the PICs are at imminent risk of collapse through lack of ADF demand, and therefore meaningful work for the people and industrial facilities concerned.
