摘要

Ports and their associated industry and infrastructure are a critical part of maritime Australia. Ports are keys to the Australian economy; as noted in the papers 98 per cent by weight of our international trade is carried by sea. Almost fifty commercial ports around the Australian coast deal with international shipping, and there are hundreds more smaller facilities providing critical infrastructure for cargo handling, bulk commodity shipments and range of other activities.
