Digitally printed products require specialist finishing. With advantages for short run and quick turnaround, digitally printed products continue to increase in popularity. However, print and copy shops can only realise these advantages if they can get the finished product out the door quickly. On top of that, as any litho printer will tell you, digitally printed products perform differently with traditional finishing equipment. For example when performing rotary scoring it goes into the paper, but with digital, it can scuff over the toner, so when it is opened up you can see the white of the paper. Digital printers can make the paper drier and prone to cracking. Digital finishers also need to address issues like curling stock and static.
