The Angel Place Recital Hall was developed as part of the AMP Society's redevelopment of Angel Place. The hall was completed in 1999 and its ownership was transferred to the Sydney City Council. AMP retains ownership of the commercial office tower. Norman Disney & Young was appointed mechanical consultants for the recital hall's construction, with services to be kept entirely separate from the commercial development.
