The sessions started with Keynote Speaker, Peter Verwer, CEO of the Property Council. His theme was 'Show Me The Money!', a presentation that looked at the move away from the traditional concepts of property ownership. One of the driving forces for this change was the fact that there is increasing competition for investment dollars. In the future, property owners will no longer simply generate their income from square metre space rental, they will be providing a wide range of business services, offering themselves as full office solutions providers. Just as AIRAH is developing new income streams to avoid reliance on one or two traditional areas, so are property owners facing the challenge of creating new non-rental income streams. To do this, property owners must see property not just as physical buildings but as part of a living commercial environment that includes employees, access to services, products and people.
