Well-known personality in air conditioning and refrigeration in New South Wales, Alan Mann, has been in the industry for more than 40 years and a member of AIRAH for 30 years. He and his wife Shirley have been operating Service First, Australia's largest independent supplier of compressor spare parts, for nearly two decades. Although he is now one of the veterans of the industry, it was not his intention to become involved with air conditioning when he enrolled in 1952 for a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree at the NSW University of Technology, now the University of NSW.
