摘要

There are a few heat pumps in industry which make use of both heating and cooling generated at the same time. The University of South Australia is involved in the development of one such system for a dairy farm. In order to take advantage of cheap off-peak electricity tariff, the heat pump generates ice in an ice-bank during the night, which is used for milk cooling during the day. Heat released while the ice is being made is used to produce daily requirements of hot water for washing purposes. Advantages of this system are that both initial capital cost and energy consumption are reduced. This paper describes the operation of this system and presents some results to indicate system performance and energy cost savings. Furthermore, it discusses potential applications of such systems into buildings.
