Seems that we hear this question every day at the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) office and in training classes: "What can I do when a customer comes in with a vehicle I know or suspect is contaminated?". Even if your shop doesn't specialise in auto A/C, you have two simple options: 1. Turn the customer away. Tell them you don't want to touch an A/C system with known or unknown contaminates and send them on their way. Perhaps some other shop in your area is willing to handle the business. 2. Explain the problem to the customer. Tell him/her you can fix it. Not many shops like to turn away business, so instead of turning the customer away because you don't want to get involved with the hassle of handling contaminated refrigerant, why not turn this into a business opportunity?
