Need to improve the flow of work and revenue in your service shop? Flatline your appointments, say the pros. That is, try to spread them throughout the year rather than have them bulge beyond control during the warmer months. "Writing 25 tickets a day per adviser in July and 8 per writer in December is a ridiculous way to do business," says consultant Jeff Cowan of Pro Talk, Indianapolis. "Flatlin-ing is not a good idea in a hospital, but it is a good idea at a dealership."
