The maintenance and modification center, One Sky Aviation, Anchorage, Alaska, recently was awarded a supplemental type certificate (STC) for the installation of the Max-Viz EVS-100 and -600 enhanced vision system on the Cessna Caravan 208 and 208B. Cary Foster and Sharmaine Vestal, One Sky's co-owners, designed and developed the package, which combines thermal imaging and special imaging software to better show Caravan pilots the runway and surrounding terrain at night and in low-visibility conditions. The EVS-100/600 is a single line-replaceable unit that weighs less than 1.5 pounds (0.68 kg) and mounts like an antenna.
