The thing you must remember," Dernard Delaunay, marketing general manager for Air France Industries said, "is the average size of a major European airline fleet is only about 200 aircraft, about one-third to one-half that of its U.S. counterpart." Delaunay was explaining why many European airlines contract out their maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO). "It isn't cost effective for everyone to have their own maintenance facilities," he said.
