Embraer is already filling its order book for its very light jet and light jet endeavors, even though the ventures are still in their early phase and detailed configurations for the business jets won't be rolled out for several more months. The Brazilian aircraft maker's president/CEO, Mauricio Botelho, says the first of the conditional orders were registered about a month ago, although he concedes it's not "an avalanche" and that prospective buyers can still pull out without losing their deposits. However, he expects stepped-up activity after the company presents fuselage mock-ups and more detailed performance figures at the annual National Business Aircraft Assn. convention in mid-November. Deliveries aren't slated until 2008 for the very light jet and mid-2009 for the light jet.
