Thailand is finally making progress in its efforts to recertify the country's airlines, increasing the likelihood that international safety oversight concerns could be resolved this year. Thai aviation authorities have completed the first three recertifications, with more expected to follow soon. However, the process of issuing new air operator certificates (AOC) to all of Thailand's international carriers has taken longer than anticipated. This is one of the most important steps in addressing oversight shortcomings identified by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) during an audit in early 2015.
