Gordon Gekko, famously portrayed by Michael Douglas in the hit movie "Wall Street," was inspired by Carl Icahn, the investor who led the hostile takeover of Trans World Airlines in 1985. In 2013, such investors played a role in EADS' decision to divest its stake in Dassault Aviation. Today, they are on the march across the global economy. One target is large multinational conglomerates with a strong presence in aerospace.
