European airlines can look back at 2015 with satisfaction as the industry overall recorded its highest profitability margin since the global financial crisis, aided by strong demand and low fuel prices. But boards and shareholders are now wondering whether the new year will bring a further increase in profits or if more restructuring is needed to earn an adequate, long-term return on invested capital.
