摘要

The U.S. has been progressing the technology of unmanned combat aircraft systems (UCAS) for more than a decade, but a requirement for an operational platform seems no closer. Instead, Europe appears to be picking up the torch. It has been several decades since Britain and France worked on a new aircraft together, but now that relationship may be rekindled through development of a UCAS demonstrator. They will jointly spend €2 billion ($2.3 billion) on a platform that will combine the best technologies from both nations in a push to create an operational unmanned combat aircraft vehicle (UCAV) ready for service in the 2030s.
