The International Space Station (ISS) partnership is doubling down on research in the wake of three cargo-vehicle failures in eight months, forging ahead as the orbiting lab begins to attract more "nontraditional" users than can be accommodated. Managers at NASA don't want the supplies lost in the failures of both U.S. commercial cargo carriers and a Russian Progress vehicle to slow momentum of station use just as commercial researchers are starting to line up for its facilities.
