Producing up to 11,065 shp, at an 860-rpm propeller speed for takeoff, the TP400-D6 is the most powerful turboprop to enter production in the West. The engine is built by Europrop International, a consortium comprising Rolls-Royce in the U.K., Snec-ma in France, MTU Aero Engines in Germany and Industria de Turbopropulores in Spain. The TP400 uses Rolls-Royce's signature three-shaft configuration with low-, intermediate- and high-pressure sections-a design selected to enhance hot-and-high performance. Overall pressure ratio is 25:1, one of the highest for any turboprop yet built. A three-stage low-pressure turbine drives a reduction gearbox that powers the eight-blade composites 1,475-Ib., 17.5-ft.-dia. UTC Aerospace Ratier-Figeac propeller. Dry engine weight with accessories is 4,200-4,250 Ib., depending upon direction of rotation.
