After two decades rising through the executive ranks at communications services provider Amdocs Management, Dov Baharav had no defense experience when he was tapped in 2011 to serve as chairman of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). During his tenure at Amdocs, Baharav oversaw complex financial systems and high-tech development projects in the lead-up to the dot-com bust, when he was appointed CEO. In the years that followed, he more than doubled revenue and added several thousand jobs before moving to IAI, where he is adapting that service-based experience to his new role. Over the past seven months Baharav has lead development of a new strategy aimed at U.S. and European competitors as they muscle into IAI's traditional A&D export markets in emerging economies. He spoke with AW&ST Paris Bureau Chief Amy Svitak in June.
